Jim continues to take risks because he is very curious about who the pirates are and what they are doing. Jim's reasoning is that he is smarter than pirates and will be able to get rid of any evil that they are planning, if he knows this in advance. In Jim's place, I would not have the courage to spy on such a strange and unknown group on my own and therefore I would do everything differently from Jim.

This question is about "Treasure island", a book that tells how Jim Hawkins joins a group of pirates and sets out to find a treasure buried in unknown lands. Jim doesn't know the group of pirates and is a little scared and suspicious when they show up at his parents' inn. Jim's curiosity leads him to know about the treasure and the possibility of finding it if he joins the pirates.
