What makes some stars appear brighter than others?

Geography

Answer:

A star's brightness also depends on its proximity to us. The more distant an object is, the dimmer it appears. Therefore, if two stars have the same level of brightness, but one is farther away, the closer star will appear brighter than the more distant star - even though they are equally bright!

hope this helps

How has human activity such as livestock overgrazing effected the Sahel
Bas_tet [7]

The livestock overgrazing of the Sahel resulted in desertification.

Explanation:

The Sahel is a region roughly stretching in an east to west direction. It separates the Sahara Desert on the north, and the steppes and savannas on the south. This region is semi-arid, being dominated by short grasses that are well adapted to prolonged periods of drought.

There a re people that live in this region, and thus there are human activities. Some of the prime human activities is the farming of livestock. The livestock needs grazing, and considering that it needs it constantly, an area that doesn't provide lot of food like the Sahel, is not able to sustain that. That contributes to overgrazing, which in turn contributes to desertification of the Sahel, so the Sahara Desert is gradually moving southwards.

The Sahel occupies territory in the countries:

  • Senegal
  • Mauritania
  • Burkina Faso
  • Mali
  • Niger
  • Nigeria
  • Chad
  • Sudan
  • Eritrea

What causes the aurora borealis or northern lights to occur
Arturiano [62]
Bottom line: When charged particles from the sun strike atoms in Earth's atmosphere, they cause electrons in the atoms to move to a higher-energy state. When the electrons drop back to a lower energy state, they release a photon: light. This process creates the beautiful aurora, or northern lights
