Camp Half-Blood is a magical place, so it definitely makes sense for there to be different jobs, rules, and requirements.

Demigods have to stay, sleep in, and take care of their respective cabins. Before each meal, offerings are made to the kids' godly parents by scraping some of their food into the hearth fire. There are training sessions and Capture the Flag games as well.

ipn [44]
Over the next 90 days, I plan to eat out less. This will save me money because I can go to the grocery store and buy things in bulk to make a meal that cost roughly $4, when if I were to continue going out, I would be spending around $5-$8 per meal.

Based on the narration and dialogue, which statement describes the narrator's mother best? She is still bitter that her daughter
KiRa [710]

Answer:

The best answer is c. She's confident that her daughter's attitude is the only reason she's not a genius.

Explanation:

Suyuan is the narrator's mother in Amy Tan's short story "Two Kinds". She is a Chinese woman who decides to make a child prodigy out of her daughter Jing-mei, sort of a Chinese Shirley Temple. She quizzes her on several subjects, changes her hair to make it curly and then short, and finally makes her take piano lessons. At first, Jing-mei is excited about the idea of being a prodigy. She likes to picture all the attention she'll receive, and believes problems won't exist if she is famous. She is not, however, willing to work hard to accomplish things. She chooses to be lazy and, since her mother is constantly nagging her, she chooses to fail. She even says she had the right to be a disappointment. She succeeds in letting her mother down at her piano recital, where she plays terribly. Suyuan is not fooled by her daughter's performance. She knows Jing-mei could have done better if she had been willing to apply herself. Years later, when Jing-mei is already grown up, Suyuan gives her the piano as a present and remarks precisely that:

"Well, I probably can't play anymore," I said. "It's been years." "You pick up fast," my mother said, as if  she knew this was certain. “You have natural talent. You could be a genius if you want to." "No, I  couldn't." "You just not trying," my mother said. And she was neither angry nor sad. She said it as if  announcing a fact that could never be disproved. "Take it," she said.

Can someone please give me some cool ideas for my essay/writing prompt?
Svetlanka [38]
Considering you have to write about a teen who wants to earn money, make it interesting at least.

You can have the teen (male or female) struggling to get money as they are handling high school, sports (if you want to make them do sports), and other things.

Everybody knows that it's definitely a struggle to be a student and work at the same time, but in the end it eventually it pays off. I'd base this idea off of society nowadays, where teens become pregnant to just get free money off of the government because they're a single mom. How about the teens who actually want to do something in life?

 - I'd start out with the teen a month into their job they have at the moment, juggling exams in school and other classes. Maybe they eventually figure out that the job they have currently is doing no good for them (insert a low pay check?). They are soon to graduate, and don't know if they can afford a college to go to. They decide to resign from their job and search for another, even if it's short time such as doing things for neighbors (mowing, babysitting, etc). They eventually find a job where they feel appreciated at and happy to work for. Soon enough, after all of the hard work they have been put through and done, they finally have enough money to pay for a college tuition, a college that they actually wanted to go to in the first place. I'd suggest to add in friends along the way that help the teen get motivated and where they are today.

It's just an idea, but this would be definitely something I would write about.
