When you read on in A, you find that all he wants is 2 store bought suits that he could buy at the same time. He wants a bottle of gin. He wants a wife that supports him. [That's the bad one. He's not totally content with his life.] He wants the furniture to be paid for. She wants to feel better about her daughter being married and her son "most grown" and working. I'd pick A but if you have feelings of your own, go with them. This is the only time I can remember recommending something that is not written in the excerpt that has quoted. Call from her.
