They also try and come up with ways to get Boo Radley to come out of his house. They are based in Maycomb, Alabama, in the time of the Great Depression. The Great Depression is reflected in the poverty that affects all of the residents of Maycomb. Even the Finches, who are objectively better off than many of the other citizens in the area, are ultimately poor and living within the means available to them. This affects their interests not only because they aren't able to do certain activities but because they make their own games.
