Read the following information about the author of the story, Julio Cortázar. Then write a short summary of five important detai

ls
from the text.
Julio Florencio Cortázar was an Argentine writer, teacher and translator: This last office was carried out, among others, by
UNESCO and several publishing houses. Without renouncing his Argentine nationality, he opted for the French in 1981, in
protest against the Argentine military regime. Considered one of the most innovative and original authors of his time, He was a
master of the story, poetic prose and short story in general. He was also the creator of important novels, which inaugurated a new
way of writing literature in the Hispanic world, as they broke the classic molds through narratives that escape from temporal
linearity. Due to the contents of his work, which cross the border between the real and the fantastic, Cortázar is usually related to
magical realism and even surrealism. Further, He is listed as one of the central exponents of the Latin American boom, along with
other renowned writers, including Gabriel García Márquez, Carlos Fuentes and Mario Vargas Llosa. He lived up to four years in
Belgium, Switzerland and Spain. Some time later, his family returned to Argentina, where Cortázar resides until 1951, the year in
which he settled in France, a country that served as the setting for some of his works and where he lived the rest of his life. His
main works include Hopscotch (1963), 62 model to assemble (1968), Manuel's book (1973), Secret weapons (1964), All fires on
fire (1966), Someone who walks around (1977) and We love Glenda so much (1981). Among the themes that are most associated
with the prose of Cortázar, as well as that of other contemporary authors, we have the isolation of the individual in modern
society, loneliness and time. Also seen in his work is a marked interest in changes of point of view within the same work and the
fantastic, a trend that he shares with Horacio Quiroga and Jorge Luis Borges, among others. Furthermore, as with many other
Hispanic American writers, toward the end of his life a growing concern for the political situation in his country and the rest of
Latin America began to be reflected in his work.
