Perpendicular slope = -1/3

y = mx + b (-5,2)
2 = -1/3(-5) + b
2 = 5/3 + b
so
b = 2-5/3
b = 1/3
equation

y = -1/3x + 1/3

answer is B

Y-y1 = m(x-x1)   substitute the know

y-2 = -1/3 (x-(-5))   distribute the - 1/3
y-2 = -1/3x - 1 2/3  add 2 to both sides
y = -1/3x + 1/3

Find the volume of the figure. Round to the nearest hundredth when necessary. I got 257.2288 I if this is correct, I am not sure
juin [17]

ok

Volume of a cylinder = Area of the base x height

= pi*r^2 * h

= 3.14* 3.2^2*8

= 3.14*10.24*8

= 257.23 km^3

We got the same result, you just need to round to the nearest hundred.

pi = 3.14

r = 3.2 km

h = 8 km

what is the equation in slope-intercept form for the line that passes through (3, 7) and is perpendicular to 3x-5x=8
Galina-37 [17]

Answer:

5x + 3y = 36

Step-by-step explanation:

First we need to rewrite 3x-5y=8 in slope-intercept form.

y =  \frac{3}{5} x -  \frac{8}{5}

The slope of this line is

\frac{3}{5}

The line perpendicular to this line will have a slope that is the negative reciprocal of 3/5, which is

m =  -  \frac{5}{3}

This line passes through (3,7).

The equation is given by:

y-y_1=m(x-x_1)

We substitute the point and slope to get:

y - 7 =  -  \frac{5}{3} (x - 3)

We multiply through by 3 to get:

3y - 21 =  - 5(x - 3)

Expand to obtain:

3y - 21 =  - 5x  + 15

3y  + 5x =  15 + 21

5x + 3y = 36
