Which statement shows bias?
VMariaS [17]

The correct answer is D. It's great that so many young girls can have successful careers as nurses.

Explanation:

Bias statements focus on personal opinions rather than facts or reality. Due to this, a bias statement supports a specific point of view and due to this can be incorrect. An example of a bias statement is " It's great that so many young girls can have successful careers as nurses" because in this sentence the author expresses his point of view about being a nurse. This personal perspective is showed through the word "great". Also, through this statement, the speaker suggests this career is mainly for girls, which is not only a personal opinion but an incorrect statement.

Identify the figurative language used in these stanzas of Amy Lowell’s “in excelsis “
sergij07 [2.7K]

Answer:

The first example of figurative language is seen in the first line. This line is an example of a simile because it is comparing being frozen and the clouds using the word "as". This line conveys meaning by directly comparing two things which makes it easier to understand its meaning. The line, "I leap beyond the winds" is a hyperbole because it is an exaggeration. This makes it more dramatic and have a stronger meaning. Another simile is found in the line, "for my throat is keen as a sword". Once again it is comparing two things using the word "as" and in the case it is the narrators throat and a sword.

Which homophone best completes the sentence?
elena-s [515]
Hi!

Every fall, the oak tree in the garden sheds its leaves.

The answer isn't their, because there is only one tree.
It isn't there because there isn't used as a possessive noun.
And it isn't it's because it's means it is.

So the answer is its.

Hope this helps! :)
