Tituba confesses and accuses others of being punished with hanging or whipping. When the townspeople assault her with physical abuse, Tituba confesses to witchcraft.
If she does not admit to witchcraft, Parris threatens to beat Tituba to death. Tituba breaks down and mistakenly believes that she and others in town are being bewitched by the Devil.
