A couple of reasons that giving a teen a phone comforts them could be the following:
- It gives them a way to contact anyone in case of an emergency.
- If anything bad happened, the cell phone can be used in many ways to help the crime investigators figure out what happened.
- Cell phones can be used to identify somebody.
- They are great for finding someone who is lost.
