Answer:

Poetry is similar to stories because poems actually can tell a story themselves. Poems and stories both often use figurative language, however, it's most often used in poetry. There are many different types of poems but stanzas are used to group together parts of the poem much how like paragraphs group together parts of a story. They both also can vary in length, long or short. A narrative or a ballad (two different types of poems) are most often used to tell a story of some sort.
