Actually, there are two correct answers: The first, and in my option not the best option is A. A wintry city Street. The matchseller is trying to sell matches while being on the street, and then she dies from hypothermia (too low body temperature). However, I think that B. B. A place in the matchseller's imagination is a better option, as the majority of the story finds place in her imagination.

So with that being said, we need to find text evidence that shows a negative perspective coming from the author. This is basically saying that a human shows inconsequential-(Little importance towards something) feelings towards friendship with someone else.

Lastly, we can look at "gossamer fidelity"

This means like a thin-(In this sentence it would mean "having little") loyalty-(being trust worthy, and faithful) towards someone.
