Simile: The pop star is as bright as the Sun.

Metaphor: The road is a silver ribbon.

Personification: The leaves danced on that table.

Hyperbole: There must have been a million cars in traffic!

A simile is a figurative language that compares two objects using like or as. A metaphor is a direct comparison between two objects. Personification is a figurative language when you give nonhuman objects human characteristics. Hyperboles are a figurative language that explains something or someone in an exaggerated way.
