thenewamerican.com/index.php/usnews/immigration/6162-governor-martinez-takesstand-against-violent-illegal-immigrants

Last week's news item on New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez and her fight against violent undocumented criminals caught my attention. Immigration is a political topic in the United States. An article, a video or audio clip, a television show, a book, a documentary, or a film are all examples of possible media items. Last week's news item on New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez and her fight against violent undocumented criminals caught my attention.

For most of the country's history, immigration, both legal and illegal, has been a fact of life. Because this article is about illegal immigration in New Mexico, it is important to explore the influence of Hispanic illegal immigration. The first large-scale illegal immigration from Mexico happened in 1882. The United States was in the process of constructing thousands of miles of railroad tracks across the country, and it required cheap labor. Thousands of Mexican workers crossed the border illegally to begin work on a train that would connect Mexico and America. Illegal immigration dropped from 1929 through the start of World War II in the early 1940s, as the US began aggressively extraditing illegal immigrants and the Great Depression produced a severe job scarcity. However, as American men went off to war at the start of World War II, illegal immigration exploded due to a scarcity of manpower. Attempts to deport illegal immigrants were made in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, but the tide was too strong. Illegal immigration has been a continual domestic and international policy burden since World War II, with civil rights groups battling conservative factions over the subject.

Illegal immigration is a contentious political topic in the United States. On a civil rights platform, liberals strive to justify immigration, whether legal or illegal. They contend that everyone has fundamental natural rights that should not be violated. They argue that the US government does not have the authority to pursue people purely based on their ethnic ancestry or suspicions that they are in the country illegally. They argue that before law enforcement officers can question someone about their legal status in the country, they must have broken a law. Conservative individuals and organizations argue that the individual has already breached the law by entering the country illegally. If law enforcement suspects someone of committing a crime, they should have the right to question them regardless of their ethnic background. The fact that there have been multiple drugs and gang-related assassinations in the border region between Mexico and the United States recently adds to the political debate. Illegal immigrants assassinate American citizens, and citizens believe the federal government is not doing enough to protect them from these criminals.

This news report focuses on the governor of New Mexico's decision to revoke the sanctuary offered to illegal immigrants who are arrested and are interrogated about their legal status.

During the previous governor's term in office, Bill Richardson, this refuge was offered to immigrants. The news item concentrates on the practical issues that New Mexico has with illegal immigration, and it argues that enabling police to question immigrants about their legal status after they have been arrested for criminal activity is a no-brainer. In this report, the media coverage appeared to be fair. It appears to devote more time to covering the governor's perspective than to giving equal emphasis to the views of civil rights organizations. This is understandable, given that the narrative is about the governor's decision rather than illegal immigration in general.

Although factual facts about the crime committed by illegal aliens and state measures to crack down on illegal immigration were presented, the story was not sensationalized.

An objective reader of this news story will conclude that illegal immigration is a problem that affects all the southern states bordering Mexico. They will realize that illegal immigrants' violent criminality impacts not only white Americans, but that legal Hispanic immigrants are the group most likely to be affected by it. Prejudice, bigotry, or stereotyping are not encouraged in this article. Susana Martinez is Hispanic, according to the article. It further claims that most legal Hispanic immigrants reject illegal immigration.
