Estos impuestos enojaron mucho a los habitantes de las 13 colonias norteamericanas como Carolina del Norte, Carolina del Sur, Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania.

Esos impuesto, desde el punto de vista de los colonos, eran excesivos e injustos. Algunos de esos impuestos fueron el impuesto a la imprenta, el impuesto a la navegación, los impuestos Townsend, entre muchos otros.
