Answer:

The equation form is, a(t)=-1000t+32800

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : After descending for 8 minutes, an airplane is at an altitude of 24800 feet. After 20 minutes, the plane's altitude is 12800 feet.

To find : Write an equation in the form a(t)=mt+b that shows the altitude, a, after t minutes of descent ?

Solution :

The equation is in form, a(t)=mt+b

Where, 't' is the time in minutes and 'a' is the altitude,

After descending for 8 minutes, an airplane is at an altitude of 24800 feet.

i.e. a=24800 and t=8

Substitute in the equation,

24800=m(8)+b

24800=8m+b ......(1)

After 20 minutes, the plane's altitude is 12800 feet.

i.e. a=12800 and t=20

Substitute in the equation,

12800=m(20)+b

12800=20m+b ......(2)

Solving (1) and (2) by subtracting them,

24800-12800=8m+b-(20m+b)

12000=8m+b-20m-b

12000=-12m

m=\frac{12000}{-12}

m=-1000

Substitute in equation (1),

24800=8(-1000)+b

24800=-8000+b

24800+8000=b

b=32800

So, The equation form is, a(t)=-1000t+32800

What is the slope-intercept form of the equation of a line that passes through (5, -4) and has a slope of 34?
Alla [95]
One way to find the slope-intercept form is to plug the given values into point-slope form, y - y_{1} = m (x - x_{1}), where x_{1} and y_{1} are the coordinate points and m is the slope. Then, you solve for y.

y - y_{1} = m (x - x_{1})   Plug in the values
  y - (-4) = 34 (x - 5)         Fix the minus negative four
     y + 4 = 34 (x - 5)         Use the Distributive Property
     y + 4 = 34x - 170        Subtract 4 from both sides
           y = 34x - 174

The slope-intercept form of the equation that passes through (5, -4) and has a slope of 34 is y = 34x - 174.

What is the converse of r->(~q v p)
alexira [117]

Answer:

 r =>  (\neg q \ \lor p)  \ \equiv  \  q \ \land \ \neg p => \neg r

Step-by-step explanation:

In general, remember that the converse of    a => b       is     \neg b  =>   \neg a , therefore in this case  a = r   \ \ ,  b = \neg q \ \lor p

so   r =>  (\neg q \ \lor p)  \ \equiv  \  q \ \land \ \neg p => \neg r

The scale of a map is 1cm:12 km. find the actual distance for 12cm
anzhelika [568]
This is simply a question about ratios. This ratio means that for every 1 cm on the map, there are 12 km in actuality. You can set this problem up in fractions:

1 cm           12 cm
--------   =   ----------
12 km             x

To solve for x, we cross-multiply, for the moment ignoring units. Remember, your answer will be in km.

1*x=12*12

x=144

If x=144, then for 12 cm, there are 144 km.

A rectangle with a length of L and a width of W has a diagonal of 10 inches. Express the perimeter P of the rectangle as a funct
KatRina [158]
<h2>Answer:</h2>

The expression which represents the perimeter P of the rectangle as a function of L is:

          Perimeter=2(L+\sqrt{100-L^2})

<h2>Step-by-step explanation:</h2>

The length and width of a rectangle are denoted by L and W respectively.

Also the diagonal of a rectangle is: 10 inches.

We know that the diagonal of a rectangle in terms of L and W are given by:

10=\sqrt{L^2+W^2}

( Since, the diagonal of a rectangle act as a hypotenuse of the right angled triangle and we use the Pythagorean Theorem )

Hence, we have:

10^2=L^2+W^2\\\\i.e.\\\\W^2=100-L^2\\\\W=\pm \sqrt{100-L^2}

But we know that width can't be negative. It has to be greater than 0.

Hence, we have:

W=\sqrt{100-L^2}

Now, we know that the Perimeter of a rectangle is given by:

Perimeter=2(L+W)

Here we have:

Perimeter=2(L+\sqrt{100-L^2})

Replace ∗ with a monomial so that the derived expression may be represented as a square of a binomial: * +14b+49
anyanavicka [17]

Answer:

  * = b²

Step-by-step explanation:

You know that the square of a binomial is of the form ...

  (x + y)² = x² + 2xy + y²

Matching given terms, we have ...

  49 = y²

  2xy = 14b

Solving the first of these relations for y, we have

  y = √49 = 7

Putting that in the second relation and solving for x, we find ...

  2x·7 = 14b

  14x = 14b

  x = b

Then the first term of the expansion, x², will be b².

The missing term is b².
