Constipation is one of the most common gastrointestinal complaints among those over age 65 years old, especially older women. It is important to provide effective therapy and treatment to avoid serious complications in elderly patients. Some complications that may happen including fecal impaction, hemorrhoids, and rectal prolapse.

The best treatment for constipation patient is changing diet and lifestyle. Drink enough fluids, increase fiber food and doing physical activities. However, some patients also need medications.
