Women who drink excessively have an increased risk of damage to the heart muscle. alcohol consumption increases risk of breast and other cancers. Drinking while pregnant could be severely damaging resulting in the death of the baby, fetal alcohol syndrome, or other health problems. Women also have a higher risk of liver damage, this includes: liver disease, alcoholic hepatitis, and liver cirrhosis. Alcohol can negatively affect puberty in females causing problem with the mensuration cycle, reproduction cycle, and can alter hormone levels.
