Epic poems are those poems which details the heroic deeds of a hero with the intention of relaying an important lesson for mankind. It is a long narrative which contains the heroic deeds of the protagonist, significant for the culture and people of that time.
A frame narrative is a form of story where there are multiple stories within the narrative. This is a form where the characters in the original text tells or narrates another story, to the other characters of the text, making it "a story within a story" kind of plot.
"The Canterbury Tales" by Geoffrey Chaucer can be regarded as an epic poem and a frame narrative. It contains numerous stories about the valiant and strong characters, and even the great deeds of the stories told by the pilgrims in their own way. This collection of stories make up the whole of the "Canterbury Tales".
