djyliett [7]

The Apennine Mountain Range dominates the peninsula, running like a backbone down Italy toward the south.

The Apennine mountain Range is also called the Apennines, which is a series of mountain ranges bordered by narrow coastlands that form the physical backbone of peninsular Italy.

The Apennine Mountains are a mountain range which consists of a parallel smaller chains extending about  1,200 km along the Italian peninsula towards the South, where they end at Reggio di Calabria, the coastal city at the tip of the peninsula.
