We hang out anywhere outside (biking, hiking, skiing, park, etc.) Bars and clubs are also popular, as the drinking age is lower. One very obvious place that’s different is all the neighboring countries. We could literally ride our bikes, or drive, or take a ferry to a bunch of different countries. Americans can’t really do that. As for all the outside hangouts, I’m assuming it’s not as popular in the US because many don’t have the time, energy, motivation, or desire to be active and outside.
