If you meant the introductory or the first paragraph in essays or thesis, it is recommended to have your thesis statement as the ending sentence/ conclusion.
Thesis statements typically have some sort of transition words (therefore, hence, in addition to, etc.) , your main topic/subject/idea or precise opinion and your reason.
Clearly state the answer to the main research question. Summarize and reflect on the research. Make recommendations for future work on the topic. Show what new knowledge you have contributed
I don’t see an italicized word? But gazed could be looking intently and in admiration. Dazzled could be amazed or kind of charming. Exotic could be unique or special.
