Léopold Sédar Senghor was the first President of Senegal. He was widely known for his political ideology often referred to as Negritude. This is a political ideology that favors Black consciousness and self-rule. Thereby he against colonialism where African values and traditions were lost

Similarly, Jomo Kenyatta also the first President of Kenya, believed in self-rule and go against colonization which affected African values and traditions, and racial segregation.
