I'm going to assume that this was the 1948-49 Berlin Crisis. West Berliners were starving after Stalin had cut supply lines from the west to give supplies to West Berliners. Truman had ordered that the supplies would instead be flown in, which saved West Berlin from falling to communism, many people saved, the future prosperity of West Berlin, and a major propaganda victory for the U.S.A.
