To what season does the speaker compare his time of life in Sonnet VII by John Milton?

The answer is: late spring.

This sonnet by Milton speaks of youth becoming adulthood but showing no great accomplishments or feats to be proud of, just like a late spring would come that gave no blossoms. Adulthood came all too soon for the speaker, and though manhood keeps no promises, nonetheless, it will all be and become what God himself does wish.

Stolen on his wing my three and twentieth year!
My hasting days fly on with full career,
But my late spring no bud or blossom showeth..." - Sonnet VII John Milton
