Metamorphosis, the main work of the writer Franz Kafka, portrays the transformation of Gregor Samsa into a repugnant insect and, consequently, the transformation of his whole family to suit the new reality.
The first time his mother accidentally sees him, she becomes extremely sad and ends up fainting and her father, annoyed by the fact, crunch apples on Gregor, so that he ends up badly injured. He just does not die because his mother wakes up in time to stop her father from committing a murder.
She wrote poetry to express her problems. She didn't want everyone to know exactly what she was dealing with, but just in a round about way. She didn't talk for years before hand, because she thought it was all her fault and words were to powerful. So she used poetry to describe how she felt or how she feels like after.
