Fynjy0 [20]

“Jake, Jason, wait up! Have you heard about the school play? It’s The Little Mermaid and the auditions are held this Friday. You guys should totally try out with me!” exclaimed Amber.

“Ugh. I hear Lilly is doing it, as always! Mrs. Brown said that she’s going to get the featured role no matter what!” snapped Jake.

“Ewwwww! She’s so weird. That’s why she has no friends,” agreed Jason.

“I guess it would help increase our chances of becoming homecoming king and queen, so why not?” stated Jake.

“I’m in,” said Jason.

“Well, I will see you at the auditions on Friday.”

Two days later, Amber, Jake, Jason, Lilly, and many more students showed up at the auditions.

After everyone had finished reading lines from different scenes, singing songs and performing the dances, ten kids were out.

“Gaylord Balcom, Hosea Jack, Vera Fuselier, Kacy Poplar, Scottie Wallen, Deeanna Soukup, Brant Dipaola, Jeffie Parnell, Monte Heilig, Terrell Metzer, you are out!” yelled Mrs. Brown.

Once the roles had been announced, Jake and Lilly learned that they would play the roles of Prince Eric and Ariel. They were both very upset with this but they both wanted lead roles, so they didn’t say anything to Mrs. Brown.

One day, while rehearsing, Mrs. Brown told them that they had to kiss. Lilly and Jake hated this because they didn’t like each other’s personalities very much and thought it would be very weird to kiss each other. They both begged for that scene to be removed from the play but Mrs. Brown refused.

Opening night arrived. They were both super nervous. When it came time for the big kiss, which had not been rehearsed, Lilly and Jake were super embarrassed. Jake realized that he was starting to have feelings for Lilly, having learned how kind she was during their time rehearsing together, and started liking her personality a lot more and didn’t think of her geeky side as much. After the play, he let her know and she said that she felt the same way, but since they were seniors and the school year was ending soon, it would not make sense for them to start dating.

“Well, which college are you going to, Lilly?” asked Jake.

“Stanford,” replied Lilly.

“No way, this is unbelievable!” yelled Jake, “I am going to Stanford as well!”

Once they learned that they would be in the same place for four more years, they were elated. They started dating two weeks later, and little did they know, they would be spending the rest of their lives together. They lived together in college, and after graduation, got married. Once they learned each other’s true personalities, they fell in love. This shows true love and that you should not judge a book by its cover.

So i’m writing a paper on nostalgia. Why our generation is so stuck on the 80s. I need help figuring out a topic . I was thinkin
VladimirAG [237]

Revolving nostalgia is not a new phenomnon and can be found in the old days too.

Explanation:

The 80s were also inspired in part by the rock n roll generation's early parts of culture. The flamboyance of the 80s fashion came as a response to the conservatism that was on the rise at the time and such environment has come up again in the recent surge of conservatives again.

Musical influence of the 80s is less evident as Rock and Punk are not mainstream genres anymore while Hip Hop and R&B dominate the zeitgeist so this may not be as relevant on the 80s nostalgia front.

Read the following sentence. Then, answer the question.
Rus_ich [418]

Answer:

The dependent clause follows the independent clause in this sentence, so no comma is needed.

Explanation:

When a dependent clause follows an independent clause, there is not need to include a comma as opposed to when the dependent clause is before the independent clause.

In this case the dependent clause being "because her brother’s stereo was turned up to full volume", follows after the independent clause which is, "Beatrice was unable to concentrate on her project". There is therefore no need to put a comma.
