What is onomatopoeia? When a word sounds like the thing it describes. In other words, when words mimic sounds. Think about a bur

sting balloon or an exploding kernel of corn. What sound do they make? A pop! We also use the word "pop" as a verb to describe these actions. The balloon pops. We pop the corn. To get the full effect of onomatopoetic words, it helps to say them out loud. Say, "The bacon sizzled on the stove." Can you almost hear it cooking?
Which of these is an example of onomatopoeia?

A
using the word "blue" to describe the color of the sky

B
using the word "floral" to describe the smell of perfume

C
using the word "chocolatey" to describe the taste of a cake

D
using the word "screech" to describe the sound of nails scratching a chalkboard

  • Rhyme

Rhyme is a poetic device where the vowels at the end of lines have similar sounds. Their consonants do not have the same sounds.

The consonants after the stressed vowel sounds also sound alike. This is seen in the 'r' sound in all the boldened rhymes.

Rhyming is an important device because it helps in marking the end of lines and making the poem more melodious and memorable.

The stress used in 'more' and 'shore' occur in the last syllable, thus they are single rhymes.

What settlement was also founded by religious reformers, but NOT as a break from the Church of England?
uranmaximum [27]

The correct answer to this open question is the following.

Although there are no options attached, we can say the following.

The settlement that was also founded by religious reformers, but NOT as a break from the Church of England, was the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1630.

We are talking about the Puritans, who were reformers too, but in a notorious difference to the Pilgrims,  Puritans were not separatists, they did not separate from the Church of England. They preferred to reform the church from the inside.

So when Puritans founded the Massachusetts Bay Colony, they followed their religious teachings and methods without splitting from the Church of England.
