Feelings is an appropriate key word for the romantic arts because feelings are typically the center of the romantic arts. Whatever the artist is trying to convey is usually a strong and passionate type of emotion. These messages can be described through many different types of art-both visual and verbal. For example, sculpture, paintings, plays, movies, and music can impart and invoke different types of feelings. Feelings are some of the deepest rooted ways to connect with other individuals. Feelings can cross genders, races, languages, and orientations. Everyone can relate to emotions. It is the one thing that humans have that some other mammals may not. This is why feelings is an important and appropriate key word for the romantic arts.
The Era of Romanticism during the 19th Century were coincides with the word, "feelings" due to intellectual and philosophical works being made. For example Caspar David Friedrich's Romantic Painting, "Wanderer Above The Sea Of Fog" pulled out the emotions and feelings of what the audience saw. People may have different opinions of art but the art like Friedrichs gave a sense of feeling and emotion. These feeling could include enthusiasm, energetic, curiosity, horror, etc. The main goal of a Romantic art work was to convey emotion (feelings). This could be due to the exaggerated colors used in paintings, sculptures or architecture. Another example is the "Grand Staircase of the Paris Opera" made by Charles Garnier. His Romantic architecture screamed out all kinds of feeling due to the exaggerated details and shape of the staircase and room. It lived up to its name, it seems like a Grand Staircase fit for a monarch and thats what makes the common man or woman feel all these emotions just by studying Garnier's Architecture. The Romantic Art age was a time to focus on the individual's feelings and perceptions of the World; from the Artist to the audience.
