Free_Kalibri [48]

They were the French settlers in Nova Scotia. The French called it Acadia after the Indian name for the area. It went back and forth between the British and french throughout the 17th and early 18th centuries. The British gained final control in 1713. In 1755, with war with France looming the British became concerned about the loyalty of the French population and deported many of them. Several thousand of them settled in Louisiana, which was then French territory. Over time after Louisiana became American the word Acadian was corrupted to Cajun which is how their descendants, including me, are known to this day.Michael Montagne  french settlers  The Acadians were the first Europeans (besides the Vikings) to land in the Maritime provinces. In what ways did the war become a symbol of liberty?
Mrrafil [7]
For the United States, the pursuit of freedom was born from its origins, and has a lot of relation to the war, taking examples that the Americans fought since the Independence of the 13 Colonies, later fought the American civil war, and finally the most important world war, World War II. For the history of the United States, freedom has been obtained through war with different powers and between the same country, to liberate America from slavery. Many of today's US bellicose interventions have been to liberate areas considered oppressed or dangerous, and although this is highly debatable globally, such actions have been pursued seeking freedom.

Which of the following was included in Patrick Henry’s Virginia Resolves? A. Colonists could be taxed only by colonial assemblie
djverab [1.8K]

A. Colonists could be taxed only by colonial assemblies.

The Virginia Resolves was a declaration against the taxation issued by Great Britain. The document argued that Great Britain had no right to tax the colonists because there was no representation in Parliament. The document further states that anyone who aided tax collectors would be considered an enemy of the colonies and the Patriots. This document laid out the Patriot cause and beliefs regarding the taxation policies.

The Virginia Resolves is one of many documents creating arguments for rebellion against the British government. This document along with Common Sense, the work of the Committees of Correspondence, and the Declaration of Independence all contributed to the ideology that led to the American Revolution. These documents were rooted in Enlightenment ideas which drove the Revolution.

In the colonial era, developments such as the New England town meetings and the establishment of the Virginia house of burgesses
Nesterboy [21]

New England town meetings and the establishment of the Virginia house of burgesses represented the first efforts to create the American unity against the abuses of the British Empire. It was the organization of angry feelings against the lack or representatives, given that they only accepted being taxed by their own elected representatives. Those new establishments represented the weakening of the connecting between colonies and the Mother country (UK).
