jim crow laws impacted African American voters because they were forced to take literacy test before taking the test before being able to vote. since at the time some African Americans didn't know how to read this brought them at a disadvantage. to include, the test included ridiculous questions. also many kkk members would threaten African Americans into voting for the candidate who don't support them. this threatening performance established fear in them therefore they would vote for the opposing candidate.
