The first African-Americans brought into English America do not do so as slaves, but as registered laborers, but in 1650 it is almost impossible for them to obtain freedom: Europeans need cheap and submissive people in the colonies, which causes settlers to be inclined to slavery. In Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia slavery is legalized first. North, New England does not need to have slaves for its traditional and puritan way of life, Nor the intermediate zone formed by New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, with population of English, German and Dutch merchants and farmers, less racist and more tolerant. But in the South it was different, in the Virginias, the Carolinas, Maryland, Georgia, plantations and landowners needed massive numbers of people, leading to a system of slave control, and an accepted racist ideology.

What arguments do you think people might have made against the Seneca Falls Declaration at the time it was published? Write at l
yawa3891 [41]

Some of the arguments people might have made against the declaration:

"The Seneca Falls Declaration is the most mistaken, shocking and unnatural event ever made in U.S. history, by women. Women belong to their homes, where they can take care of the offspring, her family and her husband. They aren't qualified to vote, nor legislate and don't need to do so since men in their lives already represent their political will, therefore their duty is only to enhance the social status of her husband or men in the family, according to their situation.

Without such a role in society, who, then is going to do the chores at home? Are the lords going to wash the dishes, clean, do the laundry, feed the children and all sort of chores? Such behavior is unacceptable in society and a threat to our most valued traditions, where men by nature and by God's command, are the heads of the family and not vice-versa."

How successful was the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor? Did they accomplish the objectives they set out to accomplish? Explain w
sesenic [268]
The Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor for the main reason of tension in the Pacific. The Americans weren't necessarily in the conflict at this point, but were sitting in the Pacific watching the Japanese, if the Japanese were to grow in power, they can't have the Americans on their tail. The attack counterattacked the Japanese if you really look at it. Most people would relate the Pearl Harbor attacks as "poking the sleeping bear with a stick", and that's true. We turned the fighting back to the Japanese in the months after the attack. And four long years later, we dropped the "Little Boy" atomic bomb on island town of Hiroshima -- And the second bomb called "Fat Man" on Nagasaki 3 days later. The Japanese surrendered less than a month after the bombings. So, the attacks of Pearl Harbor really hurt the Japanese more than it hurt the Americans.
