It can have many reasons, such as gifting them, wanting ppl to remember them, enjoying drawing them, or it can have a meaning behind it. Portraits have showed many undiscovered stuff to us, such as someone famous who has done Sth great.

Answer;    

well this one time  when  this  one old guy was painting a portrait of me iforgot where i  think down town.Anyway  i asked  him  why  he  likes  doing  them. and he said  i like to look a person from my perspective   pay attention to details  its like how you look into  a mirror and see yourself   but not just seeing ourself  but actually  knowing your flaws  are  there but not seen. I paint  the  detail of the person  of what there blind eyes cant see  or dont want to be seenaits justthe painting  of the person itself  but the  flaws of that person  seen . Honestly  when  he told me this i was  kinda  confused  on  what he meant  but yea  that  he  said.

Las influencias culturales en las expresiones artísticas nacionales se ven reflejadas por la presencia dominante de alguna expresión cultural externa que ha permeado en la sociedad, y transmite su tradición  e historia en la cultura a la que está influyendo.

Por ejemplo, cuando los españoles conquistaron Mesoamérica y Sudamérica, trajeron consigo sus propias creencias y tradiciones que impusieron a los indígenas de América.

Hablamos de dos cosas principalmente. Les impusieron su idioma: el Español. Y les impusieron su religión: el Catolicismo.

Los españoles se dieron la terea de eliminar a los ídolos que veneraban los Indios. Afortunadamente, nunca los eliminaron del todo. Lo que sí lograron fue imponer su idioma. y con ello, una serie de costumbres, tradiciones y cultura que hoy en día es parte de los pueblos Latinoamericanos.
