However, a con of a mandatory system is that it Violates the freedom of choice, which in America value greatly. Free choice is an important right, and the government mandating voting can be seen as a violation of this. Making more people vote in incredibly needed yo have a healthy democratic country, but at the same time, it is also debatable whether mandatory voting is the best way to do it.
