Shakespeare portrays hamlet as a man who falls from a high status which makes hamlet an example of a tragic hero.

A tragic hero is the protagonist of a tragedy in dramas.

Hamlet is the hero of the William Shakespeare's play "The tragedy of Hamlet". He is definitely tragic.  His father is murdered, and as a result he ponders over either revenge or kill himself. By the end of the play, he decides to avenge the death of his father, killing his uncle Claudius who murdered Hamlet's father.
