Miscigenação é o processo gerado a partir da mistura entre diferentes etnias. Os seres humanos miscigenados apresentam características físicas típicas de várias "raças".

O indivíduo que nasce a partir da miscigenação étnica (que ainda pode ser chamada de mestiçagem ou caldeamento) é considerado mestiço.

Do ponto de vista mundial, a miscigenação é considerada a união entre as três principais etnias existentes no planeta: brancos, negros e amarelos (sendo que os indígenas estariam classificados neste último grupo).
