Identify the series of geologic process that can transform magma into granite, granite into sand, and sand into sandstone.
faltersainse [42]

Answer:

a) cooling; weathering and erosion; compacting and cementing.

Explanation:

Cooling : Magma into granite

The transformation of magma into granite is a process of cooling . Magma are hot and semi liquid that originate from the interior of the earth. The magma may be solidified at the subsurface or surface of the earth to form rocks like granite, basalt etc . The process of cooling causes the magma to become solidified.

weathering and erosion : granite into sand

After the formation of this rocks , the rocks might further be disintegrated by a process known as weathering . Weathering is a process that breaks down preexisting rocks(granite) into smaller particles(sand). Weathering may be physical or chemical weathering. Physical weathering, the weathered rock still retain is chemical make up, similar to that of the parent rock . Chemical weathering involves chemical changes in the mineral assemblage of the weathered rock. After weathering, erosion transport the individual constituent of the weathered rock() .

compacting and cementing: sand into sandstone

After erosion must have transported the broken rocks to a location. Cementing agents act on the broken rocks to glue them together forming a new type of rocks. The particles(sand) are compacted to form rocks(sandstone)
