In "Un Día en la Vida: Ciudad de México", we learnt about the past of the now hyper-modern Mexico City, previously called Tenochtitlán. Before the arrival of the Spanish and later the French, architecture was vastly different. Now in the the downtown area of the city, "casonas" in the style of Spanish houses and French styled avenues are prominent. The number of inhabitants is also very different, the amount of people moving into the city has called for huge expansions. These expansions, however, are only harming the space the city takes up since it is built over a lake and the more that is built, the more the city sinks. Still, a lot of the same culture and traditions the Aztecs practiced are a big part of the lives of all of the city's inhabitants.
The rich past of Tenochitlán has shaped what Mexico City is today.
Hope this helped :)
