Stable characteristics is formed by the combination of various characteristics that would determine the overall behavior of a person.
These combinations are formed over a long period of time, but could be changed if the person are willing to make the effort for it.

So, the core of the study is the behaviour and personality - and this is usually studied by psychology. Therefore we can guess that we are looking for a branch of psychology.
This branch is social psychology - it focuses how the society (social environment) influences this behaviour.
Those who have been victims of abuse are the ones who live
in a very toxic environment. Many of
these victims have been hurt emotionally psychologically and physically. They become withdrawn and frightened as a
result of their experience. Some become
violent and inflict that violence on others.
To prevent this is to remove people from such an environment. Other ways can be through counseling as well
as any activity that will help them build confidence and trust.
