Germans were assured and told that they had done no wrong, that the other countries were the bad ones. Hitler told them that Germany was the best and that everyone should love Germany. Many Germans clung onto that. Hitler also promised better lives, which was probably the most appealing. After all, Germany was not living so comfortably after being billed huge war costs, along with a lot of hatred from other countries. He also said Germany would only be governed by responsible people to reassure citizens, although that turned out to be majorly false under his rule.
