Answer: When a musical is incorporated into the movie or music in a variety of ways it allows people to connect more deeply. Singing in the Rain is a classic above all because it brings us to music, performances. And that makes it epic.

Music is used to make this deep connection  between the viewers and the movie.

For me all the musics on the movie can not be changed at all, they make part of this connection. Changing the music is changing the soul of the movie.
