<span>All the American "Way of life" and "culture" is from immigrants. Prior to immigrants, there where the 1st Nation or Native American people--So basically, immigrants have marginalized and committed genocide to get the original inhabitants out of the way and in the last 200-350 years have created a lifestyle and culture(sort of) and each successive wave of immigrants makes a contribution to that.

However, newly arrived immigrants may also have felt anxious. They didn't know the lay of the land, they weren't aware of all of the laws, and they also had to deal with the natives accusing them of stealing work simply because the immigrants would work for a lower pay.
