Read the excerpt from chapter 13 of The Awakening. [Edna] stretched her strong limbs that ached a little. She ran her fingers th

rough her loosened hair for awhile. She looked at her round arms as she held them straight up and rubbed them one after the'other, observing closely, as if it were something she saw for the first time, the fine, firm quality and texture of her flesh. She clasped her hands easily above her head, and it was thus she fell asleep.
Which best explains how Chopin's use of language in the excerpt represents her naturalistic style?
O Chopin uses language to authentically describe the actions of a woman getting ready to lie down and rest.
O Chopin uses language to describe actions that are not natural for a woman getting ready to go to sleep.
O Chopin uses language that reveals her admiration for a woman who is taking time out of her daily routine to rest.

How does "the cold gleam of the fanatic" in the sniper's face indirectly characterize him?
MAXImum [283]

Answer :

In the short story "The Sniper" by Liam O'Flaherty, "The cold gleam of the fanatic" indirectly characterizes his devotion to his beliefs.

The lines "His face was the face of a student, thin and ascetic, but his eyes had the cold gleam of the fanatic. They were deep and thoughtful, the eyes of a man who is used to looking at death." The protagonist, the sniper, has been described as a fanatic who is calculated and focused on his craft. He is fastidious about his affairs and not squeamish at all as he has come face to face with death many times. He is confident of his talent and is eager to learn more about his craft.
