China’s geographic location is inherently land bound, as in not near the coast or ocean which hindered sea trading in the past. This hindered their development through trading via sea ports.
Chile is stretched on the North-South Axis, but very thin on the East-West axis, or in other words: it's very long and very narrow.
Some problems connected to this are based on the large cost of transportation: the distances between the cities are very large and in fact, the southern part of Chile is only reachable from Argentina by land.

They were very nasty back then. The factories that they would make to food had sick animals with boils and other bacteria. They would still cook the food and sell it. The people would get sick. They didn’t wash their areas. Nowadays an inspector comes in the restaurants and check their foods, etc. and people are more sanitary than before
