Answer:

<h2>B. the paired antiparallel DNA Strands</h2>

Explanation:

  • Meselson & Stahl reasoned that these experiments showed that DNA replication was semi-conservative: the DNA strands separate and each makes a copy of itself, so that each daughter molecule comprises one "old" and one "new" strand.

  • In the first generation, there would be two bands, one of light density and one of heavy density. In the second generation there would still be two bands, one of light density and one of heavy density.

If water is moving from inside of a red blood cell to outside of the cell into the blood plasma, the solution is
Trava [24]

Answer:

hypertonic

Explanation:

If a cell is placed in a hypertonic solution, there will be a net flow of water out of the cell, and the cell will lose volume. A solution will be hypertonic to a cell if its solute concentration is higher than that inside the cell, and the solutes cannot cross the membrane.

A marathon runner keeps sipping glucose water at regular intervals. What could be the reason for this?Select one of the options
kenny6666 [7]

How did fossil<br> fuels form, and how<br> are they obtained<br> and used?
Usimov [2.4K]

Explanation:

Fossil fuels are important energy sources for our every day activities.

  Formation of fossil fuels

Fossil fuels forms from the accumulation and burial of organisms in a basin of deposition. Instead of the organisms decaying, they preserve their carbon content. To be worthy of becoming fossil fuels, organisms must be buried in an environment where there is little to no oxygen to fast-track decomposition of the buried organic matter. Increase in temperature and pressure causes the organic matter to transform into fossil fuels.

How are they obtained

First, different fossil fuels have their extraction techniques because they occur in different physical state of matter.

For the solids e.g coal: exploration is carried out first and if a prospect is delineated, mining engineers design the best way to extract the coal from nature. Coal is usually found laid in sedimentary beds in nature. Top layers of sediments can be removed to extract the coal.

For fluids such as crude oil and natural gas, after a prospect is identified, a rig is usually constructed to extract the fluid and gas. The natural pressure allows for the fluids the rise within the drill used in extraction.

How are they used

Coal and gas are used to power electrical generating plants. They are used to heat steams which drives turbines and produce electricity.

Natural gas is used as a domestic fuel for cooking and so also coal.

When crude is processed a lot of product is obtained. Gasoline is used to power most internal combustion engines. Some chemicals useful for manufacturing plastics, drugs e.t.c are also derived from the processed crude.

A group of scientists is studying the fossils of three different hominids. They find that the DNA of the first hominid is more s
oksano4ka [1.4K]
"The first and second hominids were able to mate and produce offspring, but the first and third hominids could not." <span>Although that might be the case, it might also not. "More similar" needn't be 'similar enough' (disregarding the fact that all homonid specimens involved could happen to share the same sex). </span>

<span>"The first and second hominids shared the same geographic location, while the third was isolated." </span>

<span>That information would be revealed by the geographic location they came from. </span>

<span>"The first and second hominids most likely became extinct before the third hominid species." </span>

<span>Perhaps or perhaps not. As ancestral lineages can survive for longer than descendant lineages, it needn't apply. Still, I suppose the non-existent law of averages provides some sort of justification for the use of "Most likely". </span>

<span>"The first and second hominids have a more recent common ancestor than the first and third hominids." </span>

<span>Assuming these are all in the same neat lineage, then the most recent common ancestor of the first and second is also the most recent common ancestor of the first and the third.</span>
