The Space Race is a term used to define the competition between the Soviet Union and the USA, the two Cold War opponents. The competition between the two countries was sought to prove the supremacy of technology, military power, political, and economic power.
The Space Race between the two began with the launch of Sputnik into space by Russia. The Space Race between the two countries ended with the landing of a man on the moon. This historical event was made possible with the landing of American astronauts on 16th July 1969. Thus moon-landing by the USA's NASA ended the Space Race.
