Help me solve for U please help
Maurinko [17]
U + 4/5 = 2 and 1/3

Subtract 4/5 from each side of the equation:

U = (2 and 1/3) - (4/5)

Now it's just problem in plain old adding and subtracting fractions,
just like the ones you've done many times before.

First let's change (2 and 1/3) to a fraction:    2 and 1/3  =  7/3

So you have to find the value of  (7/3) - (4/5) .

In order to add or subtract fractions, they need to have a common denominator.
The least common multiple of 3 and 5 is 15, so that's a good choice.

7/3 = 35/15
4/5 = 12/15

Now the problem is:     (35/15) - (12/15).

That's 23/15 . . . . . the same thing as <u>1 and 8/15</u> .

That's the value of ' U '.  What an ugly number !

1. The midpoint of KL is M(5, -7). One endpoint is K(9,-7). Find the coordinates of the other endpoint L.
kirill115 [55]

Answer:

L (1, - 7 )

Step-by-step explanation:

give endpoints (x₁, y₁ ( and (x₂, y₂ )  then the midpoint is

( \frac{x_{1}+x_{2}  }{2} , \frac{y_{1}+y_{2}  }{2} )

here (x₁, y₁ ) = K (9, - 7 ) and (x₂, y₂ ) = L (x, y )

use the midpoint formula and equate to corresponding coordinates of M

\frac{9+x}{2} = 5 ( multiply both sides by 2 to clear the fraction )

9 + x = 10 ( subtract 9 from both sides )

x = 1

and

\frac{-7+y}{2} = - 7 ( multiply both sides by 2 )

- 7 + y = - 14 ( add 7 to both sides )

y = - 7

Then L  = (1, - 7 )

At SMS, 25% of the teachers teach math. If there are 50 math teachers, how many teachers are there all together at SMS?
algol [13]

Answer:

200

Step-by-step explanation:

25 percent is known to be 1/4 of a number, so if 50 teachers represent 1/4 of all the teachers, that means that in order to get a full number, we must multiple 50 by 4 in order to get all 100% of the teachers.

By doing 50x4, we can conclude that 200 teachers teach at the school (aka 100% of all teachers)
