The answer is C: Shakespeare masterfully sets the scene with words; he does not need scenery or effects.

There is, perhaps, not a single writer, with the exception of Cervantes, who, at the dawn of Modernity, so masterfully dominated and used words to express ideas, thoughts, and situations, setting the scene for all literature to develop after him and follow on his footsteps. Shakespeare´s use of language was concise and accurate, and yet, so beautifully interwoven, that no one would dare question his art as something other than brilliant.

ad-work [718]

You have already given the answers. I'd like to add an explanation.

Answer:

1. While many people have watched a marathon race, few have ever competed in one.  - sub.

2. It’s Friday night, and I have to stay home to clean my room.  - coord.

3. Neither Sasha nor her brother could locate the car.  - corr.

4. We will visit Washington, D.C., or Williamsburg, Virginia, in June.  - coord.

5. Although I prefer apples, I also like strawberries.  - sub.

6. Both Jason and Eric made the basketball team.  - corr.

7. Whenever the parents leave for work, the children throw a temper tantrum.  - sub.

8. The fans were quiet until the golfer putted. - sub.

Explanation:

A conjunction is a word used to connect other words, phrases, or clauses inside a sentence. A coordinating conjunction, more specifically, connects parts that have the same importance inside a sentence. It doesn't establish a subordinating relationship between clauses, for example. Both clauses connected by a coordinating conjunction are equally important. The coordinating conjunctions are: FANBOYS (for, and, not, but, or, yet, so).

Subordinating conjunctions are used to introduce a dependent clause. They establish a relationship of dependence in the sentence - for the subordinate clause the make sense, it needs the main one. Examples of subordinating conjunctions are: whenever, while, until, although, because, if, even though, etc.

Finally, correlative conjunctions are pairs of words that connect two ideas. These ideas are usually expressed in similar structures. They are: neither... nor, either... or, both... and, not only... but also, whether... or, so/as... as.

Svet_ta [14]

Answer:

Although the recent decision of the court has not been popularly accepted, it is necessary to take into account that democracy seeks to ensure the good of society in general.

Explanation:

Although the recent decision of the court has not been popularly accepted, it is necessary to take into account that democracy seeks to ensure the good of society in general. Even though,  on this occasion the majority have not agreed with the decision, it does benefit the society in a majority way, since it intends to work directly taking into account the rights of suspected criminals. In this case, the court has taken into account the provisions of the constitution to reach that agreement, which is considered a democratic act due to the fact that,  it will bring a positive impact within society based in constitutional approaches.

_____ compare something that your audience knows and understands with something new and different.
Leona [35]

Analogies compare something that your audience knows and understands with something new and different.

Because Analogies contrast something that is fresh and different with something that your audience is familiar with and understands. As a result, you can utilize an analogy in your speech to draw a comparison between your speech topic—something novel and unique for the audience—and a well-known concept.

Strong conclusions are essential because they give speakers one last opportunity to emphasize the significance of their message, announce the end of their speech, and aid the audience in recalling the key points of their speech. Analogy is a cognitive process that involves transferring knowledge or meaning from one topic to another, or it can also be expressed linguistically.
