<u>Answer: </u>

Area swept by minute hand of 14 cm in 5 minutes = 51.33 \mathrm{cm}^{2}

<u>Solution: </u>

Given that length of the minute hand = 14 cm

Need to calculate the area swept by minute hand in 5 minutes.

As in 1 hour , that is 60 minutes , minute hand completes a circle .

So area swept by minute hand of 14 cm in 60 minutes = area of circle of radius 14 cm

As area of circle = \pi r^{2}

where r is radius

So area swept by given minute hand in 60 minutes = \pi \times 14^{2}=\frac{22}{7} \times 14 \times 14=616

So area swept by given minute hand in 1 minute = \frac{616}{60}

And area swept by given minute hand in 5 minute = \frac{616}{60} \times 5=51.33

Hence area swept by minute hand of 14 cm in 5 minutes is 51.33 \mathrm{cm}^{2}

Major league baseball salaries averaged $3.26 million with a standard deviation of $1.2 million in a recent year. suppose a samp
Anastaziya [24]
Given:
μ = $3.26 million, averaged salary
σ = $1.2 million, standard deviation
n = 100, sample size.

Let x = random test value
We want to determine P(x>4).

Calculate z-score.
z = (x - μ)/ (σ/√n) = (4 - 3.26)/(1.2/10) = 6.1667

From standard tables,
P(z<6.1667) = 1
The area under the distribution curve = 1.
Therefore
P(z>6.1667) = 1 - P(z<=6.1667) = 1 - 1 = 0

Answer: The probability is 0.
