The treaty guaranteed that the Japanese will be the one to repair shipwrecked Americans that provides food, coal, water and other needs of the ships that docked in Nagasaki. This forced labor had affected the economy of Japan greatly. It heightened the inflation brought by the foreign money entering Japan disrupting Japan's currency.
